Prednisolone is a corticosteroid medicine. Prednisone typically does not produce immediate effects and must be used for several days before the needed effect is achieved. Corticosteroid which is often simply called steroid, but it should be noted that it is very different from another group of steroids, called anabolic steroids, which have gained notoriety because of their abuse by some athletes and body builders.
